As some people may not be aware, the internet has evolved into another world of its own in the 21st Century!
It's indisputable some people now spend more time on the internet than they do with any other thing animate or inanimate!
I recently interviewed one dude around my neighborhood, how he mastered the "Mr. Island Life," always indoor in his room!
His answer was remarkably simple, the internet keeps me busy!
Despite the exorbitant cost of accessing the internet in Nigeria due to the internet-not-free reality, it's obvious more Nigerians are still embracing the internet!
I love the internet, to be sincere I can't even imagine life without the internet, as a matter of fact, I spend more time on the internet!
But with sheer love for online presence also comes the price!
Some people don't really care about how much they spend on the internet (heavy data consumers), this category of people only wish for the availability of money/resources and they'll be ready to pay forever!
These are constant visitors to the internet, despite the exorbitant amount spent; they know the value of the internet.
And i have the category of people that i call "The Occasional surfers."
These guys cares little about daily presence online. The internet is so expensive to them, surfing the net twice a month is enough!
This category of people sees the internet to be expensive, they may have money but dislike the internet to some extent; haters of change.
And finally I have this category that I term "Internet Enthusiasts," this category of people are ready to spend their hard earned cash on the internet, ironically these guys are the financially deprived ones with the will to access the internet.
As a result, some wish the internet had been free especially in Nigeria.
The dreams of many that wished the internet had been more affordable or completely free maybe on the verge of reality due to the recent trend of cheap data bundles introduction by network service providers and freebasics program by Facebook.
In 2016, i see network service providers compete over which network would wear the crown as the network with the cheapest data bundles.
Also Facebook just partnered with Airtel in over 40 African countries including Nigeria, with this development, Nigerians using the Airtel network are surfing Facebook and about 85 websites for free.
This is achievable on the Airtel network by typing www.0.freebasics.com into a web browser.
I'm of the opinion, access to internet in 2016 is becoming more affordable!
